Eligibility Criteria (Nationality, Educational Qualification, Age Limit)
- Nationality: Indian Citizen is mandatory. Male, Female, and Third Gender candidates can apply.
- Educational Qualification (as on 01/08/2025): Minimum educational qualification must be a Graduate degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
- Age Limit (as on 01/08/2025 - based on Matriculation/equivalent certificate):
- Unreserved (General) Male: Minimum 21 years, Maximum 37 years.
- Unreserved (General) Female: Minimum 21 years, Maximum 40 years.
- Backward Class (BC) / Extremely Backward Class (EBC) Male, Female & Third Gender: Minimum 21 years, Maximum 40 years.
- Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) Male & Female: Minimum 21 years, Maximum 42 years.
- Note: For points (1), (2), and (3) above, the maximum age limit calculation will be based on 01/08/2020.
- Bihar Government Employees: 5 years relaxation in maximum age for those with a minimum of three years of regular service.
- Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation equal to 3 years plus the period of service rendered in defence, provided their actual age on the cut-off date does not exceed 57 years.

Physical Standards (No Marks, Only Qualifying)
- Height:
- Male: Minimum 165 cm
- Female: Minimum 150 cm
- Chest (Only for Male Candidates):
- Unexpanded: Minimum 79 cm
- Expanded: Minimum 84 cm
- Minimum expansion of 5 cm is mandatory.
- Third Gender Candidates: Physical standards and Physical Efficiency Test standards will be the same as for Backward Class candidates. Their gender will be determined as per the ID card issued by the District Magistrate.
Selection Process
- Selection will be based on a **Written Examination**, **Physical Test**, and **Interview**.
- The Physical Test will be of qualifying nature only.
- Written Competitive Examination:
- After scrutiny of application forms, eligible candidates will undergo a written competitive examination in two phases: Preliminary and Main.
- All papers in the written examination will be based on Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- Phase 1: Preliminary Examination (प्रारम्भिक परीक्षा)
- One paper of 200 marks.
- Total questions: 100.
- Duration: 2 hours.
- Syllabus: General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
- Qualifying Marks: Candidates scoring less than 30% marks will be disqualified for the Main Examination.
- Selection for Main Exam: 20 times the number of vacancies (category-wise merit).
- Phase 2: Main Examination (मुख्य परीक्षा)
- Candidates successful in the Preliminary Examination will be eligible for the Main Examination.
- Paper 1: General Hindi
- 200 marks, 100 questions.
- Duration: 2 hours.
- Qualifying Marks: Minimum 30% marks. Marks obtained in General Hindi paper will **not** be added to the merit list.
- Paper 2: General Studies, General Science, Civics, Indian History, Indian Geography, Mathematics & Mental Ability Test.
- 200 marks, 100 questions.
- Duration: 2 hours.
- Negative Marking: 0.2 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in both Preliminary and Main Examinations.
- Answer sheets will be in duplicate; one copy will be retained by the Commission.
- Selection for Physical Test: 6 times the number of vacancies (category-wise merit) based on Main Written Examination marks.
- Physical Test (शारीरिक जाँच):
- Candidates selected based on the Main Written Examination will be invited for the Physical Test.
- Male: 25 km walk within 4 hours. (Candidates taking more time will be disqualified).
- Female: 14 km walk within 4 hours. (Candidates taking more time will be disqualified).
- If a candidate fails in the Physical Test, they will not be recommended for appointment based solely on written exam marks.
- Interview (साक्षात्कार):
- Candidates who qualify the written examination and physical test will be invited for an interview.
- Interview Marks: 30.
- The interview will assess overall personality, subject knowledge, current affairs, creative and positive qualities, and suitability for work in the Enforcement Branch of the Transport Department.
- Marks obtained in the interview will be added to the marks obtained in the Main Written Examination to prepare the final merit list.
Merit List & Recommendation for Appointment
- The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined marks obtained in the Main Written Examination and Interview, category-wise.
- Tie-breaking Criteria:
- If two or more candidates have equal marks, the candidate older in age will be ranked higher.
- If age is also the same, the candidate with higher educational qualification will be ranked higher.
- If educational qualification is also the same, the candidate's rank will be determined by the alphabetical order of their name as per the 10th Board Certificate.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks for Main Written Exam Merit List:
- Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) / Female Candidates: 32%
- Extremely Backward Class (EBC): 34%
- Backward Class (BC): 36.5%
- Unreserved (General) Candidates: 40%
- The BPSSSC will prepare the final merit list in descending order of merit and recommend names for appointment category-wise as per requisitions.
Important Instructions for Online Application
- Candidates must apply online through the official website: https://bpssc.bihar.gov.in, under the "Transport Dept." Tab.
- Read all instructions carefully on the website before filling the application form.
- Maintain a valid and active mobile number and email ID (preferably registered in your name) for all communications throughout the recruitment process.
- The online application process consists of two parts:
- Part 1 (Registration): Fill in basic details (name, nationality, mobile number, email ID, Bihar domicile, reservation category, gender, date of birth) and proceed to fee payment. After successful payment, a registration number and password will be sent via SMS/email. Candidates can edit details before payment. If incorrect details are submitted after payment, the registration can be cancelled, but the fee will not be refunded, and a new fee will be required for re-registration.
- Part 2 (Application Form): Log in with the registration number and password. Fill in father's/husband's name, mother's name, address, and educational qualifications. Upload scanned photograph and signature.
- Photograph: Color photo, taken within two months, white background, size between 15KB-25KB, format .jpg/.jpeg/.gif.
- Signature: Separate English and Hindi signatures, black/blue ink, white background, size between 15KB-25KB, format .jpg/.jpeg/.gif.
- Failure to upload correct photo/signature will lead to rejection.
- Review all details before final submission. No edits are allowed after final confirmation and submission.
- Only one application per mobile number.
- Only one online application per candidate. Multiple applications will lead to rejection of all applications.
- Ensure all details (name, parent's name, address, DOB as per 10th certificate) are accurate. Discrepancies during document verification will lead to cancellation.
- Incorrect reservation category entry will lead to cancellation. Ensure you select the correct category.
- After final submission, an acknowledgement SMS/email will be received. Print the acknowledgement for future reference.
