Preliminary Examination (First Stage)

• One paper: General Knowledge (सामान्य ज्ञान)
• All questions will be Objective and Multiple Choice.
• Each question carries 01 mark.
• Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes.
• Medium of Examination: Hindi/English (English version will be considered final in case of discrepancy).
• Open Book Exam: Candidates are allowed to bring maximum three text books (one for General Studies, one for Mathematics, and one for General Science) from NCERT/BSEB/ICSE or other recognized boards. Guides, photocopies, or handwritten notes are not allowed.

Preliminary Exam Qualifying Criteria:

• General Category: 40%
• Backward Class: 36.5%
• Extremely Backward Class: 34%
• Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Female / Divyang: 32%
• Preference for Contractual Service: Maximum 25 marks (5 marks per year of satisfactory service, maximum 5 years).
• Number of candidates selected for Main Exam: 10 times the total vacancies (category-wise cut-off will apply).

Main Examination (Second Stage)

Paper 1: General Hindi (सामान्य हिन्दी)

• Objective and Multiple Choice questions.
• Qualifying in nature: 30% marks are mandatory. Marks will not be counted for merit list.
• If candidates do not secure 30% in Hindi, Paper 2 will not be evaluated.
• Total Questions: 100. Each question carries 01 mark.
• Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes.
• Medium of Examination: Hindi.

Paper 2: General Knowledge (सामान्य ज्ञान)

• Objective and Multiple Choice questions.

Merit List:

• The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the Main Examination and the preference marks obtained for contractual work experience (if applicable), category-wise.
• No re-evaluation provision for Preliminary and Main Examinations.

• Applications must be submitted in online mode only through the official website of BPSC: www.bpsc.bihar.gov.in.
• One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory on the BPSC website https://bpsconline.bihar.gov.in. New users must register.
• Ensure you have a valid and active email ID and mobile number for OTR.
• Fill in personal details (Name, Father's Name, Mother's Name, Gender, Aadhaar, Date of Birth) exactly as per Matriculation Certificate; no changes will be allowed later.
• Upload required documents via Digilocker Account or directly on the portal.
• Upload a clear photograph captured via webcam.
• Upload scanned signatures in both Hindi and English (image size not more than 20KB, Width 150-220 Pixel, Height 250-320 Pixel).
• Complete all six steps of profile creation: Personal Information, Address Information, Other Information, Qualification Information, Experience Information, and Upload Photo/Signature and Profile Lock.
• After locking the profile, proceed to "New Application Tab" to apply for the specific advertisement.
• Pay the application fee online. If paying via SBI Challan, generate it before the closing date and pay at an SBI branch.
• After successful submission and payment, download and print two copies of the filled application form for your records. Do not send hard copies to the BPSC office.
• Keep 4 recent passport-size photographs for future reference during the recruitment process.
• No changes/corrections will be allowed after final submission of the online application form.
