Selection Process
  • The selection will be based on a **Preliminary Examination**, **Main (Written) Examination**, and **Interview**.
  • Preliminary Exam: General Studies (150 Marks, 2 hours, Objective type, 1/3 negative marking). Qualifying in nature (40% for UR, 36.5% BC, 34% EBC, 32% SC/ST/Female/PwD). 10 times vacancies shortlisted for Main.
  • Main Exam: Written (Subjective) type.
    • Compulsory: General Hindi (100 marks, 30% qualifying), General Studies Paper I (300 marks), General Studies Paper II (300 marks).
    • Optional (Choose one): Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics (300 marks).
    • Minimum qualifying marks for Main (combined of GS papers and Optional): 40% for UR, 36.5% BC, 34% EBC, 32% SC/ST/Female/PwD.
    • 2.5 times vacancies shortlisted for Interview based on Main Exam marks + contractual experience marks.
  • Interview: 120 Marks. Mandatory to attend.
  • Contractual Experience Preference: Up to 25 additional marks (5 marks per year) for satisfactory service as DSO/Assistant Director on contract in Bihar.
